Ongoing History: Bloomfield Diary

A couple of guys were walking up Liberty Avenue around dusk on Wednesday evening, hands deep in pockets, when one said to the other, “It’s like the South Side… but nicer.”

The next morning, just past ten, the DJs on 770 AM WKFB said, “Sue from Bloomfield just called. Bloomfield! What a place! She must be a special lady if she comes from Bloomfield. Sue wants to hear Walk with the Wind. We’re here for you everyday, Sue.”

That afternoon, as the sun drifted over Herron Hill, a woman carrying a toddler on her chest stopped in front of the windows of Shadyside Honda. The setting sun made turned the glass into a mirror, and the toddler pointed at her reflection and said, “That’s me!”
