Abandoned Shoes: Mulch

I found these sandals on Penn Avenue on August 19, situated just so on the base on this lamp post. At first, I assumed the woman climbed up on this cylinder to get away from something crawling or flooding below, mice or marbles perhaps, but now I wonder if she didn’t place her shoes up there while she stomped around in the soggy mulch, only to forget them as she stepped onto the sidewalk and walked down to the shoreline of the Allegheny, eyes closed, enjoying the feel of each different texture on the soles of her feet.
