Poles: Prologue (I, II, III)

I’m introducing two new Galleries of Local Nouns this week. The first is poles.

Like most cities, every block of Pittsburgh is home to a functional poles of some kind of another: telephone poles, light poles, poles that hold up bus stops and street signs.

Poles are a good way to broadcast information to walking world, everything from lost pets and yard sales to personal beliefs, artistic statements and important notifications.
